The article is an excursion into the history of the study of chess in the system of Soviet and Russian education. The author analyzes different approaches to the study of chess, but pays special attention to the influence of this process on the development of the logical thinking of modern schoolchildren. A description is given of the implementation of this idea in the education system of the Soviet period and at the present time.
