The article examines the specific features of translating German-language comics into Russian. Comics are approached as multimodal texts in which meaning emerges through the interaction of verbal and visual components structured within a unified semiotic system. The theoretical section outlines key approaches to polycode and creolized texts and refines the concept of equivalence in relation to multimodal communication. The empirical analysis is based on the comic Asterix der Gallier and its Russian translation. The findings indicate that translation decisions are shaped by both linguistic properties of the source text and its visual organization. Particular attention is given to the rendering of onomatopoeia, distorted speech, Latin expressions, compound units, and syntactic structures. The study identifies grapho-phonetic adaptation, functional substitution, generalization, and partial reduction of imagery as recurrent strategies. The results demonstrate that comic translation constitutes a complex intersemiotic process in which maintaining the communicative effect and coherence with the visual component plays a decisive role.
