The views of modern researchers on the problem of teaching semantic reading are considered. A comparative analysis of the traditional and digital formats of text is given according to the main criteria (presentation form, structure, interactivity, learner's attention, and working methods). The methods of teaching semantic reading of printed and digital texts, as well as the views of foreign and domestic researchers, are analyzed. Recommendations are provided to improve the effectiveness of teaching semantic reading in the current conditions of digitalization of education.
