FORMATION OF LEXICAL SKILLS WHEN WATCHING FILMS IN CLASSES ON RUSSIAN AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN AN ENGINEERING CLASSROOM (LEVEL B1)

Abstract:
The article discusses the methodology of forming and developing lexical skills among foreign engineering students who speak Russian at the B1 level, through watching fiction and non-fiction films in Russian as a foreign language classes. The article analyzes the methodological foundations of the selection of cinematographic material adequate to the professional orientation of the audience and the level of linguistic competence are considered. It also describes a system of exercises and tasks aimed at presenting, activating, and consolidating both general and pre-professional vocabulary in the context of engineering communication. The article analyzes the didactic possibilities of film texts to motivate learning and form the socio-cultural competence of future engineers. Practical recommendations on the integration of films into the educational process of RCT in the engineering university are given. The results of the study demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach in increasing motivation and expanding vocabulary.
