Abstract (English):
The publication presents the main content of the author’s speech at the Forum of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature and TeacherLibrarians, which examined the relationship between the level of primary school students’ reading skills and their achievements in studying Russian. In addition to the long-recognized influence of reading on spelling literacy associated with the development of visual memory, a connection is traced between the ability to read various types of texts contained in Russian language textbooks and the successful acquisition of subject knowledge and their application. Particular attention is paid to methodological approaches to the development of reading skills in primary school, in particular the specifics of working with such types of texts as rules and algorithms for their application, instructions for exercises, and reference texts.
