The article reveals the areas of work of an adult (teacher or parent) to prepare a child for a new stage of his life - studying at school. The author highlights various aspects of providing assistance to future first-graders, which ensure successful adaptation to new requirements: development of the ability to self-control, the ability to concentrate, to be attentive. A serious task for a teacher is to create conditions for establishing interpersonal relationships of a child with peers as a propaedeutics of the relationship of a future schoolchild with classmates. The necessary elements of education in the first grade are considered: showing respect for the child’s personality, his capabilities and aspirations.
