This article examines the problem of first-graders’ adaptation to a new stage of life—schooling and the classroom-lesson system. The causes of children’s maladjustment to school and their classmates are discussed, as well as the conditions that ensure a successful transition to school. Requirements for organizing the first-grade learning process are outlined, enabling young students to successfully adapt to their new social environment and integrate into the educational system.
