One of the tasks of higher education is to improve the applied and general physical fitness of students. The purpose of our article is to characterize modern education in the field of physical education, aimed at improving the quality of using physical education tools, based on the use of the calisthenics system. Materials and methods. The object of the study was the educational process of the Orsk Humanitarian and Technological Institute. The pedagogical experiment was conducted in the format of physical education and health work with students of the institute. The research program included literature analysis, development of a set of calisthenics exercises for different levels of training and health of the student, and a sociological survey of students was conducted on the use of calisthenics in everyday life. Results. In the course of the work, the features of the use of calisthenics in physical education classes were revealed. The forms of organizing the development of the basics of calisthenics by students in practical classes are presented. The article argues for the use of calisthenics exercises to improve the functional state and psychophysical qualities, as well as to increase the motor activity of student youth. The results of the study of the assessment of the physical fitness of students after the use of the author's calisthenics technique in the physical education of student youth are presented. Conclusion. The result of the study was the conclusion that calisthenics classes have a positive effect on increasing the indicators of general physical fitness and serve as an effective means of applied focus. The results of the study can be used as a basis for building an educational process in order to improve the applied skills of future specialists and prepare for passing the GTO standards.
