The article analyzes the main trends in assessment of staff in Russian organizations, and notes that the most important management decisions depend on the accuracy of assessment. At the same time, a negative trend is highlighted in the growth of the number of assessment centers and all kinds of certifications carried out formally. It is noted that large organizations have another significant problem, also associated with the formalization of assessment - this is the involvement of third-party providers, the use of general assessment tools, classical criteria for assessing the effectiveness and labor potential of employees that are not adapted to the needs of specific organizations. It is revealed that assessment remains the only possible objective method of managing a business career in an organization as a whole and in relation to each specific employee and requires a revision of the methods and tools used.
