The modern business world is undergoing rapid changes caused by digital transformations, which are driven by many factors: integration into the global market, technological advances, and, in particular, the digitalization of industrial processes. This new trend is not limited to the introduction of traditional digital production tools, but also covers the mechanisms for managing digital transformation projects of enterprises using Industry 4.0 technologies. In his article, the author offers a study that contributes to the development of the theory and practice of project management of digital transformation of an industrial enterprise. The article analyzes publications aimed at clarifying the term "industrial enterprise digital transformation project". Based on this analysis, the author formulates his own definition, which reflects the essence of the project in terms of the development of the production and economic system. The article describes the key differences between IT projects and industrial enterprise digital transformation projects. Special attention is paid to the concept of Industry 4.0, which represents a revolutionary approach to manufacturing based on the ability to flexibly generate and analyze huge amounts of data in real time. In the context of this approach, the mechanisms for managing digital transformation projects using Industry 4.0 technologies are revealed, which allows enterprises to successfully adapt to changing conditions and benefit from new opportunities.
