The article discusses the integration of layout design into the process of studying the course of de-scriptive geometry, implemented and tested in the educational process at the Higher School of De-sign and Architecture of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. The relevance of changing the methodological approach to the content of the discipline of descriptive geometry is substantiated. The methodological changes are based on the study of the historical prerequisites for the use of layout elements in the process of teaching design students. A list of tasks with examples of completing student geometric and graphic tasks with layout elements is provided.
