REALIZATION OF COMMUNICATIVE APPROACH FOR ACTIVE VOCABULARY FORMATION IN THE TEXTBOOKS OF FRENCH AUTHORS

Abstract (English):
The article is devoted to discovering the relationship between the communicative approach to the formation of active French vocabulary and its practical application by the authors of modern educational publications. The materials of the study were textbooks on French language of A1 level of four most active publishers: CLÉ International, Didier, Maison des langues, Hachette. The study is based on the method of comparative analysis. The comparison was based on such criteria as didactic methods used by the authors in composing vocabulary formation exercises. The analysis of the exercises used by the authors when presenting the same lexical topics confirmed the dominance of the communicative approach aimed at developing practical communicative skills; however, a significant role of the cognitive approach aimed at activating such cognitive processes as memory, attention, and logic was also revealed. A comparison of the teaching material of the four textbooks showed that the most successful from the point of view of realizing the communicative approach are the textbooks Écho by CLÉ International Publishing House and Édito by Didier Publishing House.
