This research is devoted to the difficulties in understanding the meaning of Russian sentences by Iranian students learning Russian as a foreign language. This study examined the reasons for the occurrence of mistakes by Iranian students when transmission the meaning of a Russian sentence and, by teaching the features and norms of the semantic structure of a Russian sentence, the rules of the arrangement of words in a sentence are uncovered to Iranian students. Teaching such rules can teach students to identify the communicative purpose of a sentence in relation to its actual division, so that they can correctly understand the meaning of the sentence and accurately express their thoughts.
