The article discusses the problem of preparing a child for school from the perspective of ensuring the continuity of preschool and primary school education. The analysis of the main educational programs that are used for this purpose in Russian preschool educational institutions, schools, institutions of additional education, private entrepreneurs-tutors. The experience of preparing preschool children for school education, implemented in the UK and Finland, is also considered.
