The article reveals methodological approaches to the formation of cognitive search universal educational actions by younger schoolchildren, which are actively used when working with information in the course of studying various subjects of primary school. Examples of assignments for fourth-grade students in mathematics are given, the purpose of which is to analyze the information presented in graphical form. The results of the activity of fourth-graders are characterized, the difficulties that arise in them in the process of completing tasks are assessed.
