One of the most promising tools in resolving disputes related to the proof of illegal logging in a particular place, are the methods of molecular biology. Thanks to a study of changes that occur in the structure of the plant DNA , this type of analysis allows to accurately determine the estimated locus of a felled tree. High accuracy molecular genetic screening is achieved by the fact that the analysis of genetic information directly exposed to the plant itself. The State program for biotechnology in the Russian Federation for 2011-2020 (the «Programme «BIO-2020»), the Federal Forestry Agency contributes to the opening of laboratories molecular genetic analysis, including the city of Voronezh on the basis of «Russian centre of forest protection» «Protection Center forests of the Voronezh region».
