In the scientific generalization of the process of development of modern foreign language education presented to the readers, such actual vectors as the axiological and communicative orientation of language teaching, ethnoand professional orientation in teaching the language of a specialty, the development of students' emotional intelligence in modern foreign language education, etc. are highlighted as dominant. It is shown that the renewal of foreign language education continues by deepening the traditional content, substantiating and implementing new methodological ideas, using modern tools and new technologies, in particular, generative artificial intelligence. The article provides an overview of several doctoral dissertation studies that have been defended in recent years in the scientific specialty 5.8.2 Theory and Methods of Teaching and Education (Russian as a Foreign Language, Foreign Languages) (Pedagogical Sciences).
