The study presents a description of the activity component of students' professional self-determination and its diagnostic support. The article describes the process of developing and testing the "Student's Work Profile" methodology as a tool for identifying students' motivational and value orientations when making decisions about participating in work activities. The methodology includes two application options: qualitative and quantitative, allowing for a bi-paradigmatic approach to research. A pilot implementation of the diagnostic methodology was conducted in two schools (one in a city and one in a rural area). The work protocol is described. The analysis of the results obtained allowed to record high variability of motivations, the usefulness of a combined qualitatively quantitative approach for diagnosing positively and negatively disposed to work students and for developing differentiated pedagogical strategies of subsequent pedagogical support of students’ professional self-determination. The method has a high practical value for school class teachers, both for forming working groups and for providing targeted personalized pedagogical support for students' professional self-determination.
