UPDATING THE CONTENT OF STUDENT RESEARCH CULTURE IN THE CONTEXT OF STRATEGIC DEMANDS OF SOCIETY AND THE STATE: THEORY AND PRACTICE

Abstract:
Introduction. This article examines the updating of students' research culture in the context of the strategic demands of society and the state. The reasons for the discrepancy between the established scientific competencies of modern students are identified and the author proposes a unique component structure for research culture. The author demonstrates that the rapid development of scientific achievements and innovations is changing the requirements for the research competencies of modern graduates and their alignment with scientific and technological progress. Educators' compliance with and consideration of these new requirements for university graduates should ensure their future competitiveness and demand in the labor market. The main focus of this study is to develop students' ability to generate new ideas, search for and apply creative solutions that go beyond the standard, and boldly experiment in developing original, creative products. The purpose of this study is to conduct a theoretical, methodological, and applied analysis of existing definitions of student research culture as a key component of professional training, as well as existing practices for its development. This analysis also aims to develop an updated framework for this culture in the context of new requirements from employers, government agencies, and businesses. To achieve this goal, methods were used to analyze and summarize existing scientific literature on student research activity and culture, as well as a comparative analysis of the coursework and conclusions of experimental work. This study summarized the experience of implementing the original course "Fundamentals of Scientific Research" at the university. This course, which includes, along with theoretical lectures, a set of practical assignments, significantly improved the level of students' research culture. The author proposes an updated component structure for student research culture in light of modern requirements for university graduates. The solution to these objectives resulted in a renewed understanding of the components of student research culture, as part of methodological knowledge, based on a combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities, research competencies, information-seeking behavior, creative potential, and experience in organizing and conducting experimental research. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that, based on an analysis of current societal and government demands for university graduates, a new component of research culture has been developed that aligns with current practice: the ability to generate new ideas, information-seeking behavior, and the desire to find original solutions to non-standard problems. The theoretical significance of the study lies in the fact that the proposed definition of research culture and its components contribute to the theory and methodology of professional education, expanding the understanding of its essence and content. Pedagogical conditions for the development of a research culture, taking into account university science and research, are theoretically proposed. The practical significance of the study lies in the development and implementation of a proprietary elective course, "Fundamentals of Scientific Research," and the proven effectiveness of its implementation in enhancing students' research literacy. The developed diagnostic tool can be used in university practice to determine students' research literacy levels.
