The relevance of the study lies in the comprehension of new models of higher education that meet the challenges of the time and the needs of Russian society, one of the most important principles of which is the principle of the fundamental nature of education. The article describes the essence of the concepts of the fundamental nature of education and the fundamentalization of higher education; highlights the indicators of the fundamental nature of university education; and substantiates the structure of the results of fundamental education. The article presents a discussion on the relationship between the principles of fundamentalism and practical orientation in higher education.
