FLUORESCENT PENETRANT TESTING: MODERN TECHNOLOGIES AND EQUIPMENT
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
The increased use of non-magnetic structural materials results at Russian companies in the growing role of liquid penetrant testing, which involves the use of modern equipment, materials and technologies. The liquid penetrant testing due to its advantages (high susceptibility, visibility, possibility to test objects of different forms, materials and dimensions, etc.) is highly demanded in Russia. There are differences in domestic and foreign regulations, which do not facilitate standardization of product quality testing for domestic products and those manufactured for foreign customers. The way of reducing such negative impact is considered in the paper. By the example of some semi-automatic and multipurpose liquid penetrant testing lines implemented at Russian enterprises the article overviews new domestic and foreign materials and technological approaches, taking into account the updates of foreign and domestic regulatory documents. The elements of automation processes are described and the factors affecting the quality of testing are analyzed. It is shown that the role of the human factor is still quite high despite of the increasing automation level of the testing processes.
