The subject of the study is the influence of socio-psychological factors on motivation to study. The aim of the study was to identify the dominant motives in students' learning motivation, as well as the influence of socio-psychological factors on the example of anxiety. Methods. The study was conducted in several stages: at the preparatory stage, an analysis of scientific and methodological literature was carried out and research methods were selected, at the second, empirical data was collected. Psychodiagnostic testing was conducted with the participants using methods including the methodology of subjective assessment of situational and personal anxiety of C.D. Spielberger, the anxiety scale of the student J.J. Taylor and a methodology for determining students' learning motivation. At the third stage of the study, the obtained data were analyzed and statistically processed to identify significant differences and correlations between the identified parameters. Results. The study revealed the influence of a psychological factor such as anxiety on academic motivation. The study also identified the dominant motives of students and outlined the main ways to prevent a decrease in academic interest. Application. The set of methods can be used to determine the level of academic motivation, along with personal and situational anxiety, and the developed recommendations can help in creating measures to prevent a decrease in academic motivation among university students.
