Abstract:
The achievement of metasubject outcomes while schooling has become a painful issue for school teachers since the arrival of Federal state educational standard of secondary education in 2012. The objective of the paper is to dig out the roots of the problem. A brief review of scientific research in the field has revealed that multidirectional efforts of pedagogical community have failed to work out a consolidated scientific approach to realisation of what metasubject is and how to achieve the metasubject outcomes. The study of practical performance included three elements: screening of sites of secondary educational establishments, survey of their teachers, and monitoring of diagnostic assessments of various kinds of functional literacy and metasubject outcomes in six regions of the Russian Federation within the recent five years. It displayed: 35–40% of schoolchildren are stagnated at the middle level, meaning that the secondary school has developed a considerable potential, which needs to be realised. The authors’ suggestions are presented in conclusion.
