This article analyzes the role of the manager as a key element of the organizational structure of any company. Special attention is given to the definition of the concept of «manager», its position and importance within the organization, as well as the main functions performed by the manager and typical errors arising in the management process. The impact of the manager on the effectiveness of the management system is examined, the competencies and authority needed to successfully carry out managerial tasks are identified and practical recommendations for improving management practices are provided.
