VERSIONS OF THE DEATH OF PRINCE ALEXANDER NEVSKY IN MODERN HISTORIOGRAPHY
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
This article examines the range of versions existing in modern historiography regarding the causes and circumstances of the death of Grand Prince Alexander Nevsky in 1263. Despite the widespread recognition of this historical figure and the church's attention to his personality, there is still no definitive cause for his passing. However, there may have been multiple reasons. The issue is further complicated by the significant historiographical gap of several decades or even centuries that separates the evidence from the actual event. At the same time, researchers continue to make attempts at reconstruction due to the importance of Alexander Nevsky's figure for Russian history and the issue of Russian-Horde relations, which shed light on certain aspects of historical everyday life.
