Автором была выделена типология проектов в фармацевтических компаниях по жизненному циклу создания и выведения на рынок нового препарата, включающая проекты исследований и разработок, проекты производства и проекты реализации. В рамках исследования автором рассматривались только проекты реализации, а именно: проекты по выведению новых препаратов на рынок, проекты по поддержанию существующих препаратов на рынке и проекты по оптимизации бизнес-процессов. Целью данного исследования являлось выявление ключевых особенностей управления проектами и программами в фармацевтических компаниях, оперирующих на российском рынке, для формирования подхода к управлению компанией, повышающего ее конкурентоспособность.

Управление проектами как подход к управлению компанией появилось в фармацевтической отрасли в 1980-х гг. и начало активно развиваться.
