The subject of this article is the nature of sensory knowledge in science, its subject, structure, truth, and functions. The sensory level of scientific knowledge is the starting point for any particular science, forming the basis for the empirical and theoretical level of scientific knowledge. However,the sensory level of scientific knowledge is not the result of a purely subjective perception of cognizable reality by a scientist. Scientists' sensory perception of objects of their cognition is determined by a number of objective factors: a) the content of cognizable objects; b) the biological norm of human sensations and perceptions, formed in him as a biological species during a long evolution; c) the cognitive and practical attitude of the subject of scientific knowledge. This helps to achieve the universality of sensory data obtained by scientists in the course of experiments and observations. A. Poincare called the sensory data of science "naked facts", distinguishing them from scientific facts formed a) as a result of describing specific sensory data in a certain scientific language (natural or artificial, "instrument" language), b) in as a result of their subsequent generalization of their content. Scientific facts are no longer the result of a sensory level of scientific knowledge, but of a higher level, namely, the empirical level of knowledge, which is the first level of rational knowledge in science.
