FORMATION OF THE COGNITIVE COMPONENT IN THE CONTEXT OF THE FORMATION OF THE MEDIA COMPETENCE OF THE FUTURE ENGINEER

Abstract (English):
The relevance of the research correlates with the goals and objectives dictated in the regulatory document. The issue of media competence formation among students of various universities has been raised by scientists for more than a dozen years. The labor market dictates increasingly stringent requirements for engineers, so it is important to study the formation of a future engineer’s media competence. The article describes the chain of research activities on this issue, formulates the definitions of “media competence of a future engineer” and “formation of media competence”, which have entered scientific circulation. The structure of the media competence of a future engineer is given and the cognitive component, which reflects knowledge about media, as well as opportunities to acquire new knowledge necessary for further professional activity, is considered in more detail. The diagnosis is presented, confirming the effectiveness of the work carried out on the formation of the cognitive component of media competence.
