The article is devoted to the systematization of lexical and syntactic difficulties arising in the process of teaching interlingual translation of texts from English into Russian to university students. The examples given in the paper clearly demonstrate possible strategies for preserving the emotive and connotative components of the original utterance when transposing it into Russian linguacultural field. The aim of the study was to identify and analyze the main difficulties faced by students in learning to translate and to develop effective methodological approaches to overcoming them. The objectives of the study were to analyze lexical and syntactic aspects in translation studies and to identify methodological techniques that contribute to improving students' translation competence. The research methods were analysis of scientific literature, generalization of the experience of teaching translation theory, comparative analysis, linguistic, linguistic and contextual analysis. Effective methodological approaches to overcoming lexical and syntactic difficulties in teaching translation are proposed.
