The article provides an analysis of the recent trend of falsifying history, which is the basis for the development of nationalist ideas in modern Croatia. The author examines the issue using a retrospective approach and comes to the conclusion that the problem of the spread of nationalism in the country has a deep historical background. Despite the fact that the Croatian authorities have now taken a more skeptical position towards the development of the Ustasha ideology, the actions taken by the current President Z. Milanovic are still insufficient to eradicate the problem. In addition, the examples given in the article indicate the support of nationalist ideas by a number of European countries. Taking into account the growing popularity of such dangerous views, the article concludes that it is necessary to solve this problem through collective efforts.
