This article investigates the factors affecting the accuracy of lag operations during navigation under conditions of variable water salinity. The main types of errors arising in electromagnetic, acoustic, and mechanical lags are examined, along with the mechanisms of their occurrence related to changes in water physicochemical parameters such as salinity, temperature, and density. An analysis of the characteristics of water bodies with variable properties, including river estuaries, coastal zones, and polar regions, was conducted. Recommendations for reducing errors were developed, encompassing engineering solutions, operational approaches, and equipment modernization. The presented results and conclusions contribute to enhancing the accuracy of navigational calculations and the safety of navigation in complex operational conditions.
