The purpose of this work is to study current trends in socio-political extremism, the causes of its emergence and existence, the formation of extremist ideologies and the reform of the system of countering political and other extremism in South Korea. The main research method is historical analysis, due to the emergence of the current socio-political situation in the country. The presented comparative analysis, forecasting and modeling of situations, as well as the results of various socio-political decisions, will allow us to characterize the process of formation of trends in socio-political extremism in South Korea. The research methodology is based on a discourse analysis of political science sources and scientific works in order to identify the ideology of extremism and the subsequent formation of a counteraction system. The author examines the socio-political dynamics of the development of the state and civil society in South Korea through the prism of the emergence and impact of extremist ideologies, in particular, its political component, and the formation of an effective system to counter such initiatives in the East Asian region. It is concluded that the Republic of Korea is in a state of gradual transition into a crisis, i.e., into a "red zone", due to periodic escalations of a political, social, ideological, cultural and economic nature. The practical value of the research lies in relevant recommendations for the formation of an effective system for countering political and other extremism in the country. Also, in the consideration and analysis of the problems of law and order, their sources, universal and unique moments, as well as further trends in the spread of extremist ideologies and countering them. The theoretical value of the work consists in analyzing the current problems of the development of modern trends in socio-political and other extremism, its ideologies and the expansion of the circle of followers in the prism from the root causes to the consequences in contrast to the East Asian region.
