Abstract (English):
The article deals with the etymology of vegetable names in English and German in order to identify cognates between these languages. The study focuses on analyzing the origin of words, especially on the example of gastronomic vocabulary. The comparative analysis of words from different languages emphasizes the complexity of linguistic evolution and reveals cultural differences in word origins. The results of the study provide a better understanding of the influence of cultural factors in shaping the linguistic landscape, highlighting a mosaic picture of cultural differences in word origins and evolution.
