The main types of scientific theories and criteria of their truth are considered. different understanding of their ontology, specific methods of construction, as well as criteria for their truth. The existence in real science of six qualitatively different types of theories with qualitatively different ontologies and methods of construction is substantiated: phenomenological (empirical), ideally constructive, analytical, synthetic, particular, the most general ( fundamental or "paradigmatic"). The presence of significant differences between them has an important epistemological consequence: they lack a single criterion of truth. There are special truth criteria for each type of theory.
