The article is devoted to the implementation of the Federal state educational standard of higher education in teaching students of a pedagogical university the methodology of teaching mathematics at school. The tasks of laboratory work of the course of general methods of teaching mathematics, contributing to the formation of professional competencies and the development of labor functions of future teachers of mathematics, are considered. The article is addressed to teachers and students of pedagogical universities, methodologists, mathematics teachers.
