The article is devoted to the study of the prevalence of such a phenomenon as consumerism in modern Russia, and also examines the basics of legal support for consumer protection. A brief overview of the legal framework regulating the field of consumer rights protection is made, and ways to resolve issues that arise for consumers without moving into the legal plane are also considered. It was concluded that the scale of consumerism in Russia is quite large, and legal regulation is based on both private law norms and public law norms, which allows us to say about the complex nature of the current legislation. It was also found that the state plays a large role in protecting consumer rights.
