The relevance of the presented study is determined by the fact that in order to ensure the sustainable development of trade and economic relations between Russia and friendly countries in the context of unprecedented economic sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation, it is necessary to continue improving international financial institutions, including the service infrastructure for their support, in order to avoid additional transaction costs when making cross-border settlements in world reserve currencies, in particular in US dollars, with the likely risks of further deterioration of the geopolitical situation around Russia. The purpose of the presented research is to find ways to build a fault-tolerant settlement system in national currencies between Russia, the BRICS countries and the EAEU. The scientific novelty of the presented research lies in the development of proposals for the formation of an innovative payment system under the control of a regional financial institution, where each country would have its representatives. The practical significance of the results obtained lies in the possibility of their use in the development of settlements in national currencies with friendly countries, which entails the strengthening of trade and economic relations with them, reducing the risks caused by difficulties in using the US dollar and the euro, as well as reducing transaction costs in the long term, which will ensure an increase in the efficiency of the economy of the Russian Federation.
