THE PROBLEM OF THE RELATION BETWEEN THE PHILOSOPHY OF NIKOLAI KUZANSKY AND THE WORKS OF F. M. DOSTOYEVSKY AND V. S. SOLOVYOV
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
Nicholas of Cusa was an outstanding German Renaissance philosopher who created two theories in his philosophy - the doctrine of omniscience and the metaphysics of man, revealed in such works as «On Scholarly Ignorance», On «Godhead», as well as in many of his other philosophical and theological works. It is necessary to note the serious influence of Nicholas of Cusa on Russian philosophy. For example, Kuzansky's doctrine of oneness influenced the Russian philosopher Semyon Frank, and the metaphysics of man influenced another Russian thinker, Lev Karsavin. But even before S. Franck and L. Karsavin, Nikolai Kuzansky influenced F. M. Dostoyevsky and V. S. Solovyov, some of the most important thinkers in Russian culture. Dostoevsky very accurately reproduced the metaphysics of Nikolai Kuzansky in his works such as «Masha Lies on the Table...», «The Ridiculous Man's Dream», «Crime and Punishment», «The Possessed» and «The Brothers Karamazov». And Solov'ev, in his early works such as «Philosophical Beginnings of Whole Knowledge», «Readings on the Man God» and «Critique of Abstract Elements», made active use of Nicolas Kuzansky's teachings on omniscience, which had a significant influence on the subsequent development of Russian philosophy, creating an original Russian school of thought known as the philosophy of omniscience.
