We investigated two groups of parquet varnishes: water and alkyd-urethane - a total of 15 samples of do-mestic and imported production. Among the advantages of water materials their resistance, fast drying time, no "ignition" of wood are noted. Alkyd-urethane varnishes form elastic coatings, do not glue side joints of parquet laths, form non-slip coating. The most important operational properties include hardness, impact strength, and abrasion resistance. It is estimated that imported water varnishes has harder first layer, and the highest indicator of hardness of alkyd-urethane varnishes (0.67 conventional units) does not exceed the lowest for water ones (0.69).
