The article is devoted to the application of the «language – communicant» model as one of the tools for linguoecological assessment of journalistic content. The research material was 15 longreads published in Russian electronic editions. It is concluded that the most dangerous tendencies for the environmental friendliness of virtual journalistic discourse are the abuse of terminology, the use of vernacular and jargon, the abundance of complex words, abbreviations and occasionalisms that need to be deciphered, the increase in the number of univerbated words, and the style diffuseness of the text. The abuse of such linguotoxic elements can lead to «disruptions» in mass communication and the emergence of communication difficulties between journalists and their readership.
