Abstract (English):
The article deals with John R. Searle’s approach to the problem of illocution, including his widely known classification of illocutionary acts. Arguable points and possibilities of resolving them are discussed. A new broader understanding of illocution and speech acts through the prism of modern communication studies is offered.

Введение
Вклад известного американского философа Дж. Сёрля в современную прагмалингвистику трудно переоценить. В своих ставших уже классическими работах 1960–1970-х гг. Сёрль разработал теорию косвенного речевого акта, развил основные принципы понимания специфики иллокутивного акта, плодотворно применил идею интенциональности к проблеме значения, ввел целый ряд, ставших весьма популярными концептуальный инноваций.
