The article discusses some important factors of attracting entities of the Russian Federation of direct foreign investment. The article focuses on the foreign policy aspects of attracting foreign investment, evaluating tools used by the regional administration and the direction of international relations of the Russian Federation. The scope of the study covers three adjacent regions of the Central Federal District – the Kursk, Bryansk and Orel regions. The author concludes that both the geography of international contacts and spheres of attraction of investments regarded as promising, lie on the side of the main flow of foreign investments into the Russian economy. These circumstances set the task before the regional authorities to analyze and promote the competitive advantages of their subjects.
