The article is devoted to the research of the most actual issues connected with reforming of the existing civil legislation in the field of inheritance. The authors consider the possibility of introduction of such institutes of inheritance law to the Russian legal system as the hereditary contract and the joint will of spouses which have been widely adopted in many foreign states. In the article positive and negative sides of the specified legal institutes, as well as the prospects of their development in domestic inheritance law are analyzed.
