The article is dedicated to questions of meaning changes and the estimated values of religious concepts and realities of the modern world. It illustrates the changes in the consciousness of our contemporaries such religious concepts and express of their words, as “a friend”, “an enemy”, “sacrifice”, “tolerance” etc. It is shown that the information about semantic shifts in the meaning of certain words and combinations of words, belonging to the religious sphere of communication. They have fundamental importance for adequate perception the transmitted information for the political, social and economic consequences of the communicative act.

Не секрет, что со временем некоторые слова, уходя из активного словарного фонда в пассивный, становятся архаизмами, а другие под воздействием новых реалий в социально-экономической и ментальной сфере людей меняют свое лексическое значение. Причем в один и тот же исторический период можно наблюдать, как в разных ситуациях общения одно и то же слово употребляется как в «старом», так и «новом» значениях. Подобную ситуацию в наши дни можно, например, наблюдать при употреблении таких слов, как «враг», «ближний», «брат», «друг» в религиозной и «светской» сферах общения. Так же, как в этих же сферах можно наблюдать и разное отношение к таким категориям и явлениям, которые именуются словами «толерантность» и «жертвенность».
