The review of the textbook "History of Political Doctrines" by N.S. Kozyakova, Candidate of Political Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Political Science at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, prepared by the publishing house SIC INFRA-M for publication in 2026, provides a detailed description of the presented material on the political doctrines of the Ancient World, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance considered in the reviewed book, Modern and Contemporary times in Russian and foreign scientific thought. The necessity of preparing and publishing a peer-reviewed textbook for students and postgraduates studying in political science, law, history and other humanitarian specialties, as well as for representatives of the teaching staff, using an interdisciplinary approach by the author is substantiated. The author of the textbook continues to write and publish a series of educational literature devoted to political science disciplines, previously he wrote textbooks on political history and political sociology, which, together with the peer-reviewed textbook, according to the author of the book, are designed to complement and become auxiliary educational material as students study the nationally oriented course "Fundamentals of Russian Statehood". In the textbook of N.S. Kozyakova chronologically examines the origin and further development of basic political schools and concepts: from the ideas of ancient Greek philosophers and Roman jurists about the state and law, medieval scholasticism expressed in political theology to the Renaissance and Enlightenment, classical ideological trends of conservatism and liberalism, socialist teachings and Marxist ideology, nationalism, postcolonial and environmental concepts, globalism and anti-globalism, as well as other modern political theories. In the course of studying the material presented in the textbook, students are invited to analyze fragments of texts from the works of thinkers of the past and present, compare various socio-political and political-legal doctrines and concepts, and give them a rational interpretation in the context of modern political realities.
