The paper describes the life of Boris Vyacheslavovich Kalinsky (1906-1995), a famous Russian scientist in the field of construction and applied mechanics, a higher school teacher, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor. B.V. Kalinsky worked as an Associate Professor in Bezhitsa Institute of Transport Engineering (since 1956 - Bryansk Institute of Transport Engineering), which is now Bryansk State Technical University. In 1958-1973 he was the head of the Department of Theoretical Mechanics and Theory of Mechanisms and Machines. Scientific interests of B.V. Kalinsky dealt with structural and applied mechanics, calculations for the strength of complex elastic systems.
