The article describes the main components of the selection evaluation of organizational and economic instruments for sustainable development of fuel and energy complex. The most universal system of indicators of sustainable development is revealed, the aim of which is the substantiation of decisions, awareness of various problems, evaluation of the effectiveness of efforts being made on the basis of analysis of socio—economic, legal and environmental indicators. The main problems and threats that affect the state of the investment field of fuel and energy complex are determined. The need to rationalize the investment flows and ensuring close links between investment and research activities aimed at protecting the environment is concretized.
