The article deals with the phenomenon of informal practices in municipal management. The definition of this notion is given. The causes and consequences of their use in modern Russia are revealed. Based on the analysis of empirical data of the sociological survey conducted in the Belgorod region, the specifics of the perception of informal practices by municipal employees are determined.
