This study provides a definition of the concept of «budget liquidity management»; describes the forecasting process as one of the key elements of budget liquidity management; presents a classification of budget liquidity management models based on the level of development of forecasting mechanisms; provides a retrospective description of the development of forecasting in budget liquidity management in Russian practice; and suggests potential areas for developing forecasting practices within the framework of budget liquidity management by the Treasury of Russia.
