The article discusses the issues of assessing the economic activity of agricultural enterprises, analyzing their economic condition using the index method. A classification of the existing indexes, which are mentioned in the scientific literature, is proposed, taking into account their affiliation and use in agriculture. Based on practical experience and the real example of the EkoNiva enterprise, the IOFC and IOFCS indexes are considered in more detail. If the first index is found in the scientific literature, in Internet sources and comprehensive information can be found on it, then the second index is unique and little studied. The RMC index (Russian Milk Cost Index), the so-called raw milk production cost index, has been studied in more detail. This indicator is a tool for monitoring the cost and profitability situation in the dairy farming industry.
